Although Square is very convenient I'm very dissatisfied with their Square Capital department. I was offered a loan through Square Capitol only to be turned down do to what they call too many chargebacks but my business grosses almost a half million dollars and everything is in good standing.

I also use PayPal for my online sales and they had no problem giving me a loan in minutes which i paid back very fast through my online sells. I'm very disappointed with Square and I'm considering transferring all of my business to paypal

Square causing serious problems...

After processing and receiving approvals for over $14k in transactions on Friday Aug 5th, today on Tuesday August 9th, I received an email saying that Square flagged my account for "Suspicious activity" AND "permanently deactivated" the account after I submitted ALL of the documents they requested. They said they would hold the funds for 90 days unless I refund all of the charges. My business transactions are honest and perfectly within the constraints they apply...except the "we do what we want, when we want" disclosure which says they can close the account anytime they want without a given reason. This has caused a serious problem regarding the business relationship that I have with my customer. Square should be held liable for the inconveniences caused and the damage to the customers relationships and customers base.

Solution to Customer Code

I was not given a customer code (16 digits by the way) and tried to reach the company when an unauthorized transaction came up. You cannot call them without this "customer code." It took some work but I found a solution:

Google search: (415) 375-**** ext

It is their marketing office phone number, you need anyone's extension to get through on this one. Call every extension you find until someone answers. They will ask how you obtained their phone number...but it really doesn't matter. You need help and they will at least be able to give you your customer code by looking up the email associated with your account.

I can't get into my account because Square is not recognizing my password, which I have not changed. So I click on Forgot Password so I can at least reset my password.

Square won't send a link to reset to my valid email address. I can't reach a human, because I can't log into my account to get a *** code.

There is a process to request a code via email, but the response it that it will take 1-3 days for a *** reply. You've got to be kidding me.

If you’re looking to get customer support via phone with cash app .. forget about it!

It’s is by far the most annoying company ever! I have been waiting on a pending transaction for almost a week and I can’t speak to anyone. Instead they want you to communicate via email. So now my money is lost in cyber world and I don’t know what’s going on!

This company need to get better with how customers can contact! I will still with google wallet I have never had a problem with that service.

Unfortunately the directions that I have seeing online to obtain the customer code are a bit out-dated. I was able to obtain my customer code by logging in to my Square account.

While on the Square Dashboard, using the left menu scroll down to SUPPORT CENTER, bottom of next screen click CONTACT SUPPORT, click TRANSACTIONS AND REFUNDS, click I DONT SEE MY ISSUE, click CALL SUPPORT.

You should see your 16 digit code on this screen. GOOD LUCK!

A review of Square and it's policies has left me with great concerns of using them further. I have recently signed up with them and put one purchase through the service. My money is still sitting there and I received an email saying they were reviewing my account and needed more info. I provided them with everything they asked for, invoice, sales flyer and business registration. received a letter they are reviewing that and will get back to me in a couple of days. It's been day 1 and no response. Reading reviews of the company and complaints it seems this company takes money in for a fee and then holds the money, stalls the customer from getting paid and uses the money for their purposes. I have no idea if I am proceeding further but I can say that this will be the last transaction they will receive money from me on and I will tell my story to whomever will listen.

I want to start a Facebook page to get some attention, This is crazy, I went to their Instagram and Twitter to get some help or attention and guess what?!? I was blocked!!

I emailed them over ten times and emailed all departments. My next step is to flood the founders (Jack) Twitter page. He is also the Founder of Twitter!! We need to band together to get a grater response from them!!!

Please let's help each other!!! This is SO wrong on many levels!!! I could loose my business over this!! The owner is worth billions while I'm here fighting for my small business.

I will end up without my home and company!!!

What a nightmare

Up until today, we have used the Square merchant processing service occasional. Each time we have at least a little trouble, but all works out fine. Today was the last straw. We processed a larger transaction on 8/16/16, expecting to see the funds 8/17/16. Not so says square. after using them for going on 4 years, they now wanted govt issued tax docs, bank statements, and other pieces of information. We supplied the docs immediately upon request, and am now told it will be 1-2 additional business days. Totally unapologetic are they. We're done, I've already set up another account with another merchant processor, and will get on down the road.

Dispute re-opened after 1 1/2 years!

We had a customer question a charge because she did not recognize the name. The next day we contacted her and straightened things out. But because she had not closed the dispute correctly through square a year and a half later they re-opened the case and took money out of our account without even notifying us until it was already done. After finally getting a hold of someone at square (which took awhile to find a contact number) they told me I had to go through our customer, at which point they would have to go to their bank and get a letter stating to close the dispute, send it to me at which point I would send it back to square. It has taken 10 months and we just now received the payment back into our account. We are very frustrated that there really was not much we could do on our end and we were just at the mercy of square and our customer. Disputes should not be able to be re-opened after so much time and especially not without warning. There should also be an easier way of resolving issues.

well it is presently august 3rd 2016 and square held our funds april 26th 2015 that is 13 months without any contact or any response of when they are going too release the funds the amount held was $1492 dollars a lot of money for our small company we are small medical supply company called medical med If square would at least give us some sort of timeline or reason for the lengthy hold would help but nothing is very frustrating no response from emails and no way too call them equals zero response. I do realize we are small fish but small fish do need help sometimes Not only is it morally wrong it is legally wrong too ignore a business customer this long.

Do not use them, don't trust them , they don't deposit your money on time and they hold it for the longest time and sometimes you have to complain, the worst customer service ever!!!! They were suppose to release my funds after 90 days and on the 90 th day they sent out another email saying they will hold it for an additional 60 days. You cant call them and speak to anyone live, any help??

I told few company not to use them, I agreed the customer service is sucks! They lied... .. I hate this company .....

Good product but the customer service and tech support definitely need improvement. They have all these young inexperienced support staff that are definitely not qualified to resolve complex tech issues. These youngsters are rude and lack customer service skills. We all have bad days but from my experience, rude service is fairly consistent at Square Services. I have had a few technical issues with my Square account. Speaking with their tech support yielded the same result. My issues is not resolved. Their response... "We have done all that we can. Sorry.". They do not follow up. Repeated phone calls and emails were just completely ignored.

Squareup holding funds for 14 months

Square has held our funds since march 2015 for 14 months and has provided no details when they are going too release these funds. As far as we know it wil be 10 years from now. We got our first payment march 10th 2015 and the account was held march 28th 2015 ever since that date we have tried hundreds of times too contact square without any results they once sent an email with a copy of there service agreement which did not explain anything every other provider simply holds funds for a max of one year if there is a problem nobody goes beyond that one year cutoff but square tim care cleaning

This mobile swipe company is HORRIFIC. DO NOT USE THEM WOTH YOUR FINANCES. 1- they have NO real customer service. This point is widely advertised. And it's shocking the way they will treat you when it's not to give them your money. 2- they are being investigated by the federal government for appropriating people's fund and holding them. THIS was done in preparation for their public stock release in order to make themselves look like a bigger company then they were. This practice apparently was highly illegal. 3- like Nordstroms their " charge back " return policy is a joke. They will take money out of your bank account FIRST before even speaking to you as a merchant / provider. Then they make you chase your money just to try and get it back. To add to this issue SQUARE is not real financial corporation. They only use your money as a go between and take their VERY high fees then send you the rest. This matters because of this. When someone purchases something from you any other company that takes mobile swipes has a computerized system that applies an ISBB electronic code to your company name and you have to be approved to seek with any other company. When an item is purchased you companies name appears on the sale !! NOT WITH SQUARE. THEY SEND PEOPLE RANDOM ITEM / or GOODS RECIEPTS. IN OUR COMPANIES CASE THEY WOULD REPORT PLACE IF SALES AS " grocery store ". You can only imagine how many fraud issues we had to deal with not to mention charge backs. ALL BECAUSE SQUARE LIED AND MESSED UP AGAIN STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY WITH YOUR MONEY AND BUSINESS. Their attitude is putrid. Greedy and they feel they can not be touched so they do not care they are rude and offer no support.

They just closed my account FOR NO REASON other than my business growing. I charged a customer $9,000 for an engagement ring and they shut my account down for high risk.

THIS IS ABUSIVE AND WRONG. I just lost a customer and a ton of money.

Hey! I'm actually a payment processing specialist and decided to test some of squares features. Sure enough ran into issues immediately after not using their square reader for transactions under $500. When using square BEWARE of Moto transactions or taking transactions over the phone. Square is NOT a real merchant account - it's an aggregator. Chase Payment Tech is their back end and actually uses First Datas sysyem. Anytime I ran an invoice my teams accounts would either be pended or quickly declined - don't use square for that. If you have anything high ticket - over $1000 DO NOT USE SQUARE - their automatic risk system will just pend it most likely. Plus is that they let us refund everyone fairly quickly. If you have an business that A.) has an average ticket above $10 and b.) might need to take something over the Internet there are much better options out there. This can't be accidental. They are criminals.

After reading reviews here all I can say is I am going through exactly the same thing. They are holding my money and won't release. If they cared about additional security wouldn't it have been before they charged my clients credit cards? It's not security related. They want to hold the money for as long as they can. I hope they are further exposed. For me it's been 3 weeks. Okay the rest of my review is not worth reading. I'm simply trying to fill 100 which in and of itself is pretty GD strange. I can't convey my point in less than 100 words? Weird. Okay it's 100 now.

If you are interested with going with another company, please send me an email at purposedriven2015@***.com. We have no contracts, free equipment if you choose to get it, and most importantly, you can be up and running within 24 hours. We are more cost effective than square.

This happened to me. $11k transaction.

It was never funded to my account. This happened to me in April 16 and still no response. They money is sitting on the accounts dashboard and never deposited.

RUN!! Interested in a class action law suit?

I talked to my customer. We are cancelling the transaction. Square uses the money

I have had this service for a while now, I used it to charge a customer.... And now they won't pay me ..... It's been 8 days and they are still saying pending "For A Case Review" .... They keep saying tonight for sure, but we won't answer the phone after 5pm & case review is from 5-8 .... ??? Wow... Worst company if you need you're money... I would recommend that you never use this company if you do not need your money then I'm sure they will be fine .
