Do NOT use SQUARE aka SQUAREUP.com – FRAUDULENT COMPANY - Vindictive Vengeful and Untrustworthy

I am an attorney and have been in practice in excess of 15 years. In the past few years we have moved to accepting credit card payments because the clients demand it. A relatively new client was having trouble with our existing payment processor and so we looked into having an alternative since the problem was alleged to be with our specific processor. We did the research, and found Square to be economical. We signed up, provided the info they requested and issued two invoice to this client. Our problem with Square is that apparently lure you into signing up, and then burden you with redundant requests for information already provided. Our company decision was to simply terminate the account, which we requested from Square. After that, we were told that the money we had accepted needed to be returned to the payor or we would have to wait 90 days to receive payment. This was not an issue since the amount was around a hundred bucks. Two more requests later, then we get an email stating, "We're sorry to inform you that we are deactivating your account. Our Account Services team reviewed your account and found a pattern of transactions associated with high-risk activity..." (after we requested three times they close it) and "Any funds currently in your account will be held for 90 days before being released to your linked bank account" and "Unfortunately, our decision to deactivate your account is final..." I guess what angers us enough to post on this site is that I guess if you do not continue to finality the entire process, which is never explained to you, you get a nasty letter that is disingenuous. And, you are left wondering, is your name going on some list for refusing to participate in an abusive relationship. Hello battered-customer syndrome. We're here and we've been victimized by Square. Square, if you can read this, we don't care about the $100 bucks you have of our money, but we would like to be treated with dignity and respect. Touché, I will never purchase from a vendor that uses your system (and it's pretty obvious who uses you by your distinctive terminals). And, I am going to be very vocal in explaining that I will not support any company that supports Square. Hope you have a successful venture with treating clients like you do.

Square hold $281.45 of my deposit claim customer dispute da charge and returned goods.. I'm out $281 in cash plus $281 worth of merchandise.. Clash action lawsuit definitely sounds like a good idea.. Stay away from them..no merchant protection at all.

Square Pos System Review from Miami, Florida

I run a small gift shop. Inused square for almost 3 years no issues until 3 months when I got an email saying they gonna hold $281 of my money saying my customer returned the goods. They waited 2 months to tell me this and I KNOW the customer did NOT return 4 hoodies, 4 necklaces, 6 stickers and 3 beanies plus a framed art poster with ME knowing it.. I fill a dispute with square contesting the fraud. They advise me it will take 90plus days . I religious waited and email and call every week unto 90days past they told me the customer's bank resolve and my money is gone!!! So I lost $281 plus $281 worth of merchandise that was NEVER returned to me.. I am contacting my Lawyer right this minute!!!! Stay away from them! I was warned by my bank long time ago I was trying to save money on my credit card fees and contracts, equipments etc..

My square acct was closed after two charges. They want to hold funds for 90 days?? Wtf!!! I guess I'll have my customer do a chargeback and I will make a complaint to FTC!!! It's not the first time Mr Davis has lost a suit for malpractice with the FTC!

The same thing here. Square activated our account and approved it.

I processed over $6,000 in transactions only to find out Square decided they were going to suspend the account. I got the same exact message from Square. Now all my customers are calling wanting refunds. I have gone in the portal and issued the refunds for each transaction.

This was almost a month ago and none of the customers have received their funds. Does anyone know why this is happening? Customers are having to do chargebacks which of course i'm getting high fees for that every time they are doing it. I have no idea what to do, Square wont' even answer my emails anymore.

They don't help what so ever. Horrible company.

HELP ME! Has anyone had this issue with the refunds not being processed?

I love Square

Our bed and breakfast switched to Square over a year and a half ago. For 6 months we processed every other transaction on our traditional merchant account and square. The results were striking, Square fees were LESS THAN HALF of our merchant processor. No monthly fee, no paperwork fee, no extra fees for rewards cards. The real beauty of the the system (for us) is the fact that during January and February, when we have very little business, we only pay for the transactions that we run. The money is almost always in our account the next day. Reports can be difficult to find on the Square web site. There are no obvious links to the reporting page. However if you just search for Square Reports in Google, it will direct you to the link.

I want to be contacted about law suit as well I’m out of $620 and my bank can’t recover it because of how the cash app is structured and cash app say they have nothing in place to help in the event of fraud or scammers . I can’t believe they did that to me …

They froze my funds after i sent an invoice from their website, after 2 days the client paid and they accepted the money without any hesitation … the problem started when they had to forward the funds to me. They first asked a bunch of information about my business, and after they decided that the transactions follow a “suspicious pattern”???????????? How can be suspicious an invoice sent from their website and paid on their website??? It was normal until the client paid and become suspicious only after? they refuse to give any other explanation and after 1 month I still not have idea where my money are and when I’m going to receive it. On the other end Amazon register and Paypal here never give me any problem of sort, they forwarded to me transaction higher than the one Square is holding and they are way more transparent on their policies.

Don't Bother - Find a POS with Your Local Bank

I didn't think customer service could be worse than the cable company but that's exactly what Square has managed to do. We are a new, small, online business that is about to begin taking our product to shows. We have been trying to get the Square account up for a week. After two phone calls and numerous e-mails they have terminated our account and are holding the money for 90 days because they believe we are fraudulent. We don't advertise yet and because we can't provide them with an advertisement they believe we are not legitimate. We have a website and gave that to them but it's not good enough. Luckily for us our first transaction on Square was someone who buys our product wholesale and sells is at large tradeshows. We can refund her transaction and rerun it on the one we set up through the bank that holds our business account. Glad to know now before we racked up a bunch of sales this weekend and not see the money for three months.
