I love Square

Our bed and breakfast switched to Square over a year and a half ago. For 6 months we processed every other transaction on our traditional merchant account and square. The results were striking, Square fees were LESS THAN HALF of our merchant processor. No monthly fee, no paperwork fee, no extra fees for rewards cards. The real beauty of the the system (for us) is the fact that during January and February, when we have very little business, we only pay for the transactions that we run. The money is almost always in our account the next day. Reports can be difficult to find on the Square web site. There are no obvious links to the reporting page. However if you just search for Square Reports in Google, it will direct you to the link.

I want to be contacted about law suit as well I’m out of $620 and my bank can’t recover it because of how the cash app is structured and cash app say they have nothing in place to help in the event of fraud or scammers . I have messages where cash app pretty much takes no accountability for any money’s transferred / stolen. I want to be a part of a law suit Awesomebreed31569@***.com

I can’t believe they did that to me …

They froze my funds after i sent an invoice from their website, after 2 days the client paid and they accepted the money without any hesitation … the problem started when they had to forward the funds to me. They first asked a bunch of information about my business, and after they decided that the transactions follow a “suspicious pattern”???????????? How can be suspicious an invoice sent from their website and paid on their website??? It was normal until the client paid and become suspicious only after? they refuse to give any other explanation and after 1 month I still not have idea where my money are and when I’m going to receive it. On the other end Amazon register and Paypal here never give me any problem of sort, they forwarded to me transaction higher than the one Square is holding and they are way more transparent on their policies.

Don't Bother - Find a POS with Your Local Bank

I didn't think customer service could be worse than the cable company but that's exactly what Square has managed to do. We are a new, small, online business that is about to begin taking our product to shows. We have been trying to get the Square account up for a week. After two phone calls and numerous e-mails they have terminated our account and are holding the money for 90 days because they believe we are fraudulent. We don't advertise yet and because we can't provide them with an advertisement they believe we are not legitimate. We have a website and gave that to them but it's not good enough. Luckily for us our first transaction on Square was someone who buys our product wholesale and sells is at large tradeshows. We can refund her transaction and rerun it on the one we set up through the bank that holds our business account. Glad to know now before we racked up a bunch of sales this weekend and not see the money for three months.

we used Square to sell event tickets, After first week they said we were not in compliance with their agreement and fired us as clients. we sold 20k worth and they are holding our money. They said they would hold the money for 90 days, on the 89th day they said they were gonna hold for another 30 days in case any charge backs happened. Charge backs couldn't happen because they had closed our account. Can't get a response back even from our attorney. i need help. Our attorney said she isn't licensed in Cali, so we need to find one down their that does Corporate. Any help please

We contacted the Better Business Bureau and Attorney General in Cali it got resolved in a matter of days. Not sure which helped

Square, Inc - Merchant Services is using fraudulent business practices and holding $14K of our money

Square, Inc has taken $14,624.23 of our money from two separate sales and has frozen our account and asked for our account to be verified which we did. They still refuse to send our funds to our bank account. We have left a better business bureau complaint and are awaiting an answer. The business practices used by Square are extremely suspect and I can't believe they are able to operate the way that they do. This is causing irreparable harm to our business and we aren't going to be able to recover from this if the money isn't transferred to our account immediately. Square does not have a live person for customer support at all. If anyone from Square is reading this, we need someone to contact us immediately to resolve this.

square is the worst ever they have 44k of my money since june of last year i filed with the bbb and that does nothing they still have an a+ all they are doing is responding to the complaints not following through they should allow you to re file your complaint since they did not do what they say

They still dont pay me any money its been over a year. All these complaints i read but no one comments on if they ever got thier money. The bbb changed thier website i cant respond to them after the close my case they are just as dirty as square there is nothing you can do about your money maybe i will visit the ceo or maybe mess with his money

Not For Freelancers

Not for small business/sole proprietors indeed. When your first big transaction gets flagged (merely low 4 figure), you'll see this. They won't accept an SSN, they want a LEGAL business name, and to provide documentation that most simply won't have if they are small. When you don't have it, you are axed. If you are lucky, pending money will be refunded. If you aren't, heaven help you. Quick and easy? I don't think so! That's fine if they don't want to serve small fish but NO WHERE in their terms does it say you can't use the service if you are a sole proprietor. None of what's outlined above is mentioned, or that you need to specifically document your transactions outside of their system (simply speaking to a client isn't enough!) because their own invoices do not count. There is also the unclear warning that a refund may be taken from your linked bank account if the funds aren't available. Should the pending money not be refunded, then you're out 2x as much? I really hope that's not the case, that would be crippling! Total nightmare.

Extremely Fishy!

Had pretty much the same experience with them as many "P.O.d" customers / clients on this page. After taking a $4500 payment from one of my clients, they demanded a verification process, including the most recent 3 bank statements, which is already way too much private information to provide to any company. After said review, they claimed patterns of "high risk behavior" (without specifying what exactly that might entail), terminated the account - never mind the $4500 of legitimate funds in there, on hold for 90 days - and are essentially unavailable for comment. Very fishy business practices, and absolute NO way to get in touch with them. When trying to call them, the system puts you in a "catch 22' loop, (in which you are supposed to provide a "customer code", which you can't get unless they want something from you), from which is there is no escape. I personally would consider THEM as "high risk", and holding your hard earned money for 90 days is something NO real bank in the US is ever allowed to do! There are far better services out there, such as PayPal credit card services, so no need to put yourself at the mercy of these clowns ... Run, don't walk away from the "square" !

Im in on this lawsuit. 7,800 dollars, sent documents in the sum of 50 attachments and it didnt make a difference. These people are crooks and need to be shutdown for singlehandedly killing the hopes and dreams of the small business owner

I have been with SquareUp for well over a year and had great service until now. The new square readers (chip readers) now being sold are limited to older phones and not new phones. While they are programmed for LG G3 Android OS 4.4.1 they are not programmed for Android...

Withholding $2200 in funds from sales that I have run through the "SQUARE REGISTER"

Square has been holding funds in the amount of $2200. They have no phone number you can use without a customer code. If you apply for the customer code, they send you back to the email process. They keep telling to to fill out some questionnaire, but I have not been able to find it and the is no one to ask. I have completed a form that they askedfor, with all my bank and business information, supplied photos of our business location, bank contact people, I do not know what else to send them. The have a very poor customer service program which makes me want to use a different third party processor like "SPARK PAY"

Did you ever get your money back after 90 days? If so how?

I ask because they are doing the same thing to me. So, I took screen shots of all my account info and then deactivated my account. They won't respond and if they do I get no real answers to the numerous emails I have sent them. I've read other complaints and keep seeing something about them holding funds up to 90 days.

Is this true? Where on their website does it mention how long they can hold my money?
